Why This Policy Exists

At Wear Woofs, your dog’s health and safety come first. During periods of high temperatures,

traditional dog walks can put dogs at risk of heatstroke, burned paws, and dehydration. This policy

outlines how we adapt services to protect your dog in hot weather.

Hot Weather Service Adaptations

When temperatures reach or exceed 20°C, the following may be applied:

Walks may be:

• Shortened to reduce heat exposure

• Moved to earlier or later in the day if possible

• Switched to shaded areas or indoor play

Substituted Activities:

• Garden or indoor play sessions

• Mental enrichment (e.g., snuffle mats, treat puzzles)

• Cool-down activities (e.g., shaded rest, water play)

Safety Measures Always Taken:

• Fresh water provided

• Regular rest breaks

• Paws checked for heat from pavement or surfaces

• No dogs walked during extreme heat or red warnings
